The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha, has emphasized the importance of planting trees and protecting the existing ones.
He said that trees help to keep man healthy and protect the environment from erosion, which described as Anambra’s biggest existential threat.
Speaking when he joined the wife of the Governor, Nonye Soludo, to flag off the Anambra State Tree Planting campaign organized by the state Ministry of Environment, Dr Omenugha commended the state government for the initiative, and called on Ndi Anambra to inculcate the habit of planting trees in their environment.
He revealed that plans have been perfected for Anambra youths under the umbrella of Youths Earnestly Support Soludo, YESS, to key into the initiative and also involve in the advocacy.
Dr Omenugha, who joined to perform the symbolic tree planting, described it as a step in the right direction, and called on the people to help in protecting the trees for a healthier and safer environment for everyone.
