Fathers hold a special place in molding a harmonious society and creating a better future.

This is according to the Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, in her goodwill message to mark this year’s International Fathers’ Day celebration.

Celebrated on the third Sunday in June, International Fathers’ Day shines the light on the role of fathers in their families as providers, protectors and role models.

Speaking on the celebration, Commissioner Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche called on fathers to begin to play active roles in the nurturing and day-to-day lives of their children, maintaining that making efforts to provide for one’s family is not a good reason to be absent in the lives of one’s children.

She harped on the need for fathers to be available role models for their children; as a way of transferring family legacies, traditions, values and virtues, and emphasized that what the future of any society will become is determined by the actions and models provided by the mentors of today.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner has felicitated the Muslim community in Anambra State on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-adha.

Barrister Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, while reflecting on the life of faith, devotion, obedience and sacrifice lived by Prophet Ibrahim; called on the faithful to emulate the great prophet and always show examples of obedience to the Lord’s command in their daily lives.
