Members of the Anglican Men’s Fellowship of Saint Peter’s Parish Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area yesterday joined their counterparts across the world to mark the 2024 Father’s Day.
Celebrated on third Sunday in June, Father’s Day is an event used to celebrate the role of fathers in various families, the church and larger society
Delivering the message of Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, the Chaplain of Anglican Men’s fellowship in Awka Diocese, Venerable Vincent Nkemdilim, tasked fathers to be alive to their responsibility, especially in the area of proper child upbringing.
Most Reverend Ibezim urged Christian fathers to renounce deceitful living and instead bear witness to God’s greatness through their words and actions, reflecting His glory for all to see.
Speaking on the theme of 2024 Father’s Sunday “Christian fathers are living testimony of God’s glory”, Most Reverend Ibezim regretted that majority of Christian fathers have, through their rascal behavior, denied themselves the glory of God.
He charged Christian fathers to desist from drunkenness, which leads to acting under the influence of alcohol, saying that as Christian fathers, they should always be a beacon of hope and a shining light to others.
Most Reverend Ibezim advised Christian fathers to desist from those behavior that will bring set back to their heavenly race, and stressed the need for Christian parents to always see child upbringing as a collective responsibility.
The Anglican Men’s Fellowship assumed all responsibilities during the church service, spearheading the liturgy, scriptural readings and other duties.
Additionally, the service included special intercessions for those in positions of authority, the church community, Anambra State and the nation of Nigeria.
The Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Chukwuma Okoye, as well as the Assistant Governor, Rotary International District 9142 Nigeria Mr. Abuchi Nwozor were among those that attended the service that also featured a special anthem by members of the Anglican Men’s fellowship, general thanksgiving and a special performance by members of the Anglican Children’s Ministry.
