It was a moment of grief and sober reflection as the remains of Late Chief Jude Nduchukwu Obiagwu popularly known as “Jude Mascot Obiagwu” have been laid to rest at his country home Umuikpa village, Oka, Uga, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

 

Chief Obiagwu was a popular news caster and presenter on Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS until his demise at the age of sixty-three and the burial ceremony was attended by members of his family, in-laws, friends, well-wishers and the ABS family who gathered to bid him farewell .

In a sermon during the funeral mass at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Uga, Very Reverend Father Professor Bona-Christus Umeogu described death as the end of mortal life and the beginning of immortal and everlasting life and charged everyone to desist from sin as it leads to everlasting death, even as he called on the bereaved family to take solace in God as their father and son lived a good life.

 

Speaking to the ABS, the first son of the deceased, Mr. John-Cross Obiagwu, described his late father as a legend who taught him to be obedient, self-confident and truthful and asked his siblings to maintain the spirit of oneness, while his only daughter, Miss Cecilia Obiagwu expressed sadness over the demise of her father and described him as a very intelligent and peace-loving man.

For the brother of the deceased, Mr. Innocent Obiagwu his late brother was a father and a role model to him while his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Umenzekwe described her late brother as a fearless man, wise, truthful, and kind hearted who was a lover of sports and urged her children to uphold their father’s legacies.

On her part, the Director of Administration of the ABS, Lady Tina Ekenta described the deceased as a humble and compassionate man who did his job diligently while here Programmes department counterpart, Mrs. Nneka Ekwunife described death as inevitable and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Dance by different groups and condolence visits formed the highpoints of the burial activities.
