A Diplomat Awardee of International Society of Diplomats and peace Ambassador, Dr Dan Okekenta says the creation of an additional State in the South East geopolitical zone will bring it at par with other Zones of the Country.

 

Speaking in an interview with Newsmen on the ongoing clamour for a proposal for the creation of an additional State, Dr Okekenta stressed the need for Members of the National Assembly of Igbo extraction to synergize with critical stakeholders as well as the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo towards reaching a consensus on how to achieve a positive result in having additional States in the South East geopolitical zone.

 

According to Dr Okekenta, who is also a papal knight of Saint Gregory the Great, when additional States are created in the South-East, it will to some extent end marginalization, thereby creating harmonious coexistence.

 

He described the people of the South-East geopolitical zone as major contributors to the socioeconomic development of the Nigerian-Nation and stressed the need for Equity, Justice and Fairness to always be applied in the nation’s governance.

 

The Enugwu Agidi born Diplomat, called on Nigerians to learn how to make sacrifices for the development of the country, pointing out the Nigerians owe it a duty to always pray for their leaders to enable them continue to deliver on their promises.

 

Dr Okekenta urged the government to always see reasons in conducting Town Hall meetings where the citizenry will have to contribute in some key policies, and further called on various Communities across the country to establish peace and reconciliation commission, committees or agency for peaceful Coexistence among the people.

 

Dr Okekenta commended the Anambra State House of Assembly for the recent passage of a bill for the establishment of Anambra State Peace Building and Conflict Management Agency which has been signed into law by Governor Chukwuma Soludo calling on other States to follow suit.
