It was a celebration of a life well spent when members of the family, friends and well-wishers gathered to bear witness to the life of humanity and humility lived by the Late Princess Gloria- Mary Ukamaka Nworah during her burial ceremony.

 

The late Princess Nworah who died at eighty-five was the mother of the immediate past Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah.

The funeral mass was attended by Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by his Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Chinedu Nwoye, former Governor Willie Obiano represented by his Principal Secretary, Sir Willie Nwokoye, former Governor Peter Obi, and the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial district, Sir Victor Umeh represented by his wife, Mrs Prisca Umeh.

 

Others were a former Senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the immediate past member that represented Njikoka-Anaocha and Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, and the Acting Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Kate Omenugha.

Also, the burial ceremony attracted past and present Commissioners in Anambra State, including past Commissioners for Information, Professor Stella Okunna and Chief Maja Umeh, their Works counterpart, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, former Anambra Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh, Permanent Secretary to the Office of Head of Service, Mr Bayo Ojeyinka, Members of Enugwu -Ukwu Royal Cabinet led by the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, school children from Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Enugwu-Ukwu, the school that the deceased was one of their Matrons until her death among many other dignitaries.

In a homily at the burial mass, a visiting priest, Reverend Father Peter Ndianefo reminded Christians that it is only God that knows the time for every mortal, which is why they should live as if they will die the next minute by living a life of testimony.

 

Appreciating those who came to sympathize with their family, the first son of the deceased, Mr George Nworah said that his mother was very hardworking, loving and a caring woman and one who lived for everyone and prayed God to accept her soul in his bosom.

In his condolence message, Governor Soludo, noted that a lot of testimonies abound about the life of humanity led by the Nworah’s mother, praying to God to always keep their family in unity and peace.

 

The Labour Party Presidential candidate in the last presidential election Mr Peter Obi, while praying for the eternal repose of the deceased, urged the children to emulate her humanitarian life.

 

In their separate speeches, the immediate past Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifejiofor, the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Dr Josephat Akabuike and the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Obiano, Mr Emeka Ozumba, recalled how the late Mrs Nwora looked out for them and prayed God to grant her soul an eternal rest.

The Former Managing Director of ABS, Chief Nworah and his wife, Uchechi who spoke on behalf of the daughter’s in-law of the deceased, said that they are not surprised by the testimonies about their late mother, praying God to keep their family united the way their mother worked hard to keep it.

 

One of her sons, Mr Peter Nworra and her second daughter, Mrs Ifeyinwa Okoli, thanked those who came to sympathize with them.

 

The burial ceremony of the late Mrs Nwora who was popularly known as “Iruezigbo” was a carnival of sorts and it featured Ijele masquerade performance, dance by the members of Catholic Women Organization of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, Divine Mercy prayer Group of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umuada Avomimi Enugwu-Ukwu among many others.
