Artelia Consulting Engineers Limited India, engaged by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to design Anambra State Mixed-Used Industrial City, Master Plan, has presented the draft to stakeholders for validation.
The event, organized by Anambra State Investment, Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, took place at the International Convention Center in Awka with stakeholders from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies in attendance including host communities, the private sector, Civil Society Organizations, the Media among others.
The Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, said that the validation exercise, which highly focused on key constituency of host communities, is simply to review the draft plan, receive comments from stakeholders for onward integration into the final document.
According to Mr. Udechukwu, the new Mixed-Used Industrial City, where new age and traditional industries will co-exist was articulated by Governor Soludo in both his manifesto, vision 2070 and in the industrialization of Awka.
The commissioner for Lands, Professor Ofonze Amucheazi, and his Agriculture counterpart, Dr Foster Ihejiofor, applauded Artelia Consulting Engineers Limited for integrating all the questions raised during the stakeholders meeting and appealed to host communities to protect workers’ interest.
On their parts, the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Mr. Julius Chukwuemeka and the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Godwin Nnadozie, described the project as critical to the growth of Anambra State, South East and Nigeria in general.
Presenting the draft plan, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Artelia Consulting Engineers Limited India, Mr. Narayanan, listed integrated approach, stakeholders’ engagement and feedback-based approach, strategic benchmarking, solutions that address the need for smart and sustainable industrial clusters and industrial ecology symbiosis and circular economy creation as the principles considered in developing a Mixed-Used Industrial City for Anambra State.
Mr. Narayanan appreciated Governor Soludo for assisting them with a lot of inputs that led to the success of the project.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Investment, Promotion and Protection Agency, Mr. Mark Okoye, disclosed that the Mixed-Used Industrial City which will sit on four thousand and forty-six hectares of land within six communities across Orumba North and South Local Government Areas will create one hundred and seventy-seven thousand jobs.
