Mr. Chukwuchekwu Okoli has been elected as the new President General of Amaokpala Community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

 

Announcing the result after the election which was conducted through option A-4 model, the Returning Officer for the exercise, Mr. Andrew Nwankwo said that Mr. Okoli polled two hundred and ten votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Nonso Nwogbo who scored one hundred and thirty-three votes, while the third contestant, Mr. Nonso Ijeoma scored fourteen votes.

Speaking after observing the election, a team from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, led by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Comrade Henry Nwasike thanked the people of Amaokpala for the peaceful election, adding that the community has not had an elected President General for the past ten years.

Before the election began, those contesting for the office of the President General were five but two contestants stepped down during the accreditation process.

 

Mr. Kenechukwu Anyaele, Dr Ikechukwu Ekemezie and Chinedu Nkwo were elected Treasurer, Auditor one and two unopposed respectively.

The President General of Awah Community Dr. Raymond Offor, who doubles as Chairman of Orumba North President’s Generals, appreciated the people of Amaokpala for peaceful conduct during the election which made it very successful and appealed to them to support the new executive for them to achieve maximum results.

The new President General, Mr. Okoli after swearing in on behalf of the new executive, thanked everybody who contributed in making the event a successful one, and appealed for their support at all times to move Amaokpala community forward.
