Southeast Governors have been commended for calling for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra , IPOB, Maazi Nnamdi Kalu from detention.

 

 

 

A Social Commentator, Chief Obi Ochije-Modilim gave this commendation while speaking to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

 

 

 

According to Chief Ochije-Modilim, the move by the southeast governors is timely and a welcome development, as he said that the continuous incarceration of the IPOB leader will do nobody any good.

 

 

 

He made it clear that so many of the people who are agitating for emancipation of their people and separatist leaders in other parts of the country who were once arrested had been released, including Sunday Igboho that is calling for the creation of Yoruba nation.

 

 

 

The Social Commentator appealed to the southeast governors to sustain the tempo of the call and make appropriate and adequate consultations to all the relevant stakeholders in the Nigeria’s political ecosystem to ensure that their intention comes to fruition soonest.

 

 

 

Chief Ochije-Modilim who is an Awka stakeholder and chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA, explained that releasing Maazi Kalu will help to reduce the current insecurity in the southeast region, end the Monday sit-at home syndrome which he said has made mess of the once viable economy of the region as well as eradicate to the barest minimum, the security apprehension that has bedeviled the region.

 

He further appealed to all the political gladiators, religious leaders, traditional rulers, Civil Society Ogarnisations, the youths, students unions among others in Nigeria, especially those in the southeast region to join in the call to release the IPOB leader in the interest of peace, equity and justice.

 

 

 

According to Chief Ochije-Modilim, the Nigeria nation must do everything humanly possible to address the myriads of injustice that fuel the agitation for the creation of the Biafra State, adding that Ndigbo have contributed immensely for the development of the country.

 

 

 

Recall that recently, over fifty federal lawmakers asked President Bola Tinubu to use his executive order to release the IPOB leader to end insecurity in the region as well as far equity and justice to prevail.
