The newly confirmed Transition Committee Chairmen in the twenty one local government areas of Anambra state have been sworn-in.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo performed the function at the Anambra State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.
The swearing-in follows the confirmation of their appointment by the state House of Assembly in line with Section two hundred and eight of the Local Government Law, 1999 as amended, as requested by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The newly sworn-in chairmen are, Ifeanyi Chinweze ,Anambra East, Fidelis Nnazo ,Anambra West, Romanus Ibekwe, Anaocha, Chinedu Okafor ,Awka South, Alphonsus Ofumele , Ayamelum, Chijioke Ozumba, Dunukofia and Stanley Nkwoka, Idemili North.
Others are Chinedu Ononiba, Njikoka, Val Ezeogidi, Nnewi South, Franklin Nwadialu, Ogbaru, Anthony Nwaora, Onitsha North, Casimir Nwafor, Orumba North and Shedrack Azubuike , Orumba South.
Eight of them were re-appointed and they include, Chibuike Ofobuike ,Aguata, Thankgod Aniagor, Awka North, Amaka Obi, Idemili South, Emeka Orji, Onitsha South, Anayo Orjiakor ,Ihiala, Chris Obiora, Nnewi North, Chimezie Obi , Ekwusigo and Emma Nweke , Oyi.
While tasking them on service delivery and public purpose, Governor Soludo charged them to do something beyond themselves, expressing the determination of his administration to have every kobo deployed to serve ndị Anambra.
The Governor stressed that the new TC Chairmen have humongous responsibility ahead of them, even though these are challenging times adding that the mantra of his administration is to do more with less.
Governor Soludo pointed out that his government is very deliberate to have a local government system devoted to service delivery to the grassroot, asking them to also deploy the Public-Private-Community-Partnership model, to serve the people better.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne appreciated the Governor for his devotion to the local government system in the state and expressed confidence in the ability of the entrants to deliver on the mandate.
In a vote of thanks, the TC Chairman, Aguata Council Area, Mr. Chibueze Oforbuike appreciated the Governor for setting up the unique guideline that engendered the process which adhered to democratic principles and promised to make Ndị Anambra proud in the new position.
Speaking to the ABS, the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba North, Mr. Casimir Nwafor, his Anaocha counterpart, Mr. Romanus Ibekwe and that of Anaocha Council Area, Mr. Romanus Ibekwe said that after listening to the Governor’s charge to them, they are better re-energized to execute people-oriented policies that will deliver sustainable value.Speaking to the ABS, the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba North, Mr. Casimir Nwafor, his Orumba South counterpart, Mr. Romanus Ibekwe and the TC Chairman for Anaocha Council Area, Mr. Romanus Ibekwe said that after listening to the Governor’s charge to them, they are better re-energized to execute people-oriented policies that will deliver sustainable value.
The event was witnessed by Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Secretary to the State Government, Professor. Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, among others.
