The Commissioner for Entertainment, Culture and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Photo-fair Organization, led by Nneka Nnadi at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat in Awka.
The signing of the MOU which was geared towards a cultural event, that will be held on the thirty-first of August this year, had officials from the Ministry and Photo-fair organization present .
The Memorandum of Understanding outlined a collaborative framework for promoting cultural heritage , tourism and entertainment initiatives and also exchanging knowledge with the impact of Photo-fair, leveraging on the ministry’s resources and expertise.
Speaking during the event Commissioner Onyenji expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that the MOU marks a new chapter in the ministry’s efforts to showcase Igbo rich cultural heritage as well as promote it.
He noted that photography tells stories and preserves history for the society, emphasizing that during the event, there will be convergence of people who are interested in photography and those already in the field.
The Photo-fair representative, who is also the co-founder of the organization, Nneka Nnadi praised the ministry’s support, adding that the partnership will help Photo-fair to move to the next level, fostering greater cultural understanding and collaboration , disclosing that the theme of the Photo-fair is “The forgotten country” presented by Natesa, a leading strategic communication and public relations firm committed to safeguarding and enhancing the reputations of both brands and individuals.
The photo exhibition will showcase select pieces from artists that stimulate a feeling of nostalgia, recalling the glory of a forgotten country and will also showcase the creativity of photographers from the southeast region, develop a strategic relationship with key industry players and offer opportunities to young photographers, giving them an advantage in the industry to showcase their potential.
