Christians have been charged to use their various positions to influence positive impacts on the people and glorify God.

The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, gave the charge at Saint Peter’s Parish, Ohita, during a service of confirmation and admission into Mothers’ Union and Girls’ Guild and stressed the need for Christians to cultivate a deep and abiding relationship with God, like the Biblical Abraham, and encouraged the congregation to return to God in repentance and humility.

Right Reverend Amah urged leaders to desist from playing politics with the welfare of the masses and regretted the hardships Nigerians are facing, calling on the federal government to implement policies that will improve the living standards of people and charged the faithful to build a strong foundation for their faith and lives.

The Bishop cautioned against bringing local politics into the church, emphasizing the need to maintain the sanctity of the church as a place where spiritual powers are received through prayers and urged those who received the sacrament of confirmation and others admitted into Mothers’ Union and Girls’ Guild to live lives that win souls for Christ, reminding them to pray and love their enemies.

In his remarks, the Vicar of Saint Peter’s Parish, Ohita, Venerable George Anekwe, thanked the bishop for the visit which he described as a morale booster to the parishioners, even as he called on those who received the sacrament of confirmation and admitted into various groups to maintain the pride of Christians as the light and salt of the earth.

The service was attended by the president of Ogbaru Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Dr. Uche Amah, diocesan officials, uniformed organizations among others and featured prayers for Nigeria, Anambra State, the church, and those in leadership positions.
