The people of Enugu Otu Aguleri Community in Anambra East Local Government Area have decried the unwarranted attack on their farms and threat to life by the people of Odeke in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi state.
Speaking after a youth tour to the affected areas which includes, Mmili Elias, Iyiaja and Ngeneyor all situated in Aguleri Otu, the Youth Chairman of the community, Comrade Obinna Gody Nnalue said that the people of Ibaji precisely Odeke, have continuously damaged their fishing equipment and farm lands at settlement which is their inherited land from time immemorial.
He said that the development is unfortunate and called on the Anambra State Government to intervene by calling the people of Ibaji Local Government Area to order and to put a stop to such barbaric act.
He further said that if the action continues, the people of Aguleri will have no option than to defend themselves and that by implication, may lead to communal clash, which he said that they do not want in view of the development coming to their community by the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
The youth leader commended Gov Soludo for extending electricity to their community and applauded the Governor for the building of an ultra Modern general hospital at Enugu Otu Aguleri, a development they believed has brought envy and jealousy to their neighbours who now want to cause an unwarranted attack on Aguleri Otu people with a target on the Orient Oil in Aguleri.
He therefore called on the Anambra State Government under the leadership of Governor Soludo to intervene on the matter before it escalates beyond control.
