A three storey dormitory facility and class room block, constructed by Godwin and Patricia Okeke Foundation for the physically challenged students of Odoakpu Central school Onitsha has been officially dedicated and handed over to the Diocese on the Niger.

The dedication was officiated by the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo and attracted other Bishops and guests who joined Sir GUO Okeke family in thanking God for his mercies.

Dedicating the facility, Bishop Nwokolo extolled the philanthropic nature and passion of the Foundation towards impacting life, especially on the physically challenged and prayed God to reward them and reminded wealthy individuals in the society to key into such humanitarian projects in alleviating the plight of the vulnerable and making them useful citizens.

In his remarks, the benefactor, Sir Godwin Okeke explained his desire in adding value to the lives of the physically challenged, stating that he is keen in improving and advancing their course of studies for years back, testifying of God’s goodness upon them and the place of ability in disability and pleaded with other good spirited individuals to invest and assist in uplifting humanity.

The Commissioner for Youths, Hon Patrick Agha Mba thanked GUO Okeke and wife for championing the course and giving meaning to the downtrodden, urging all to emulate them, as the government alone cannot do it.

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman for Onitsha North Local Government Area, Chief Tony Nworah appreciated the gesture as well as the benevolence of the Foundation in touching lives, adding that it is in line with the Clarion Akuluno call of Governor Soludo.

Speaking to the ABS, some of the benefactor’s children, Messers Abuchi, Uchenna and Emeka attested that their parents have been in the business of impacting humanity within the environment, describing the project as one of the family’s legacies and promised to uphold and continue from where they stopped.

Presentation of award to the benefactor by the students and cultural display, added glamour to the event.
