Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, says the government is ready to partner with cooperatives in the state to foster sustainable economic growth.

 

Commissioner Udechukwu stated this during an event organized by Cooperative Societies in Anambra in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat to mark the International Day of Cooperatives.

 

The event aims to highlight the importance of cooperatives in driving economic development and to encourage collaborative efforts for sustainable growth.

 

According to Mr. Udechukwu, represented by Mr. Chuka Okeke, cooperatives in the state should adopt global best practices to gain international recognition and enhance their contributions to the state’s economy.

 

He urged them to leverage on modern technology, work collectively and support the present government to enhance their operations and competitiveness.

 

In a remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barrister Samuel Ike represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Bureau, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting cooperatives in the state, noting that they play vital role in the state’s economic strategy.

 

In an address, the Director of Cooperative, Anambra State Ministry of Industry, Mrs Nwabugo Okonkwo who noted that this year’s theme “Cooperatives Building Together for All, is apt, stressed the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving economic goals and fostering inclusive growth.

 

The Chairman on the Occasion, Professor Emma Okechukwu, underscored the need for continuous education and training for cooperative members to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective management and operation, while a resource person, Mrs. Chiamaka Agbili, provided insights into innovative strategies that cooperatives can implement to improve their efficiency and impact.
