Anambra state government has commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in an unfortunate accident that claimed the lives of five persons along Awgbu-Agulu road.

 

The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi on behalf of the government said the ugly incident was avoidable if all the parties involved had played their parts very well.

Speaking to the ABS at the scene of the accident, Chief Ezeajughi said that state government will ensure that such incident never occur again.

 

He explained that it was that fatal because it happened on an Eke day as according to him, the victims were those on their way to Eke Awgbu.

Mr. Ezeajughi added that as soon as they got the hint, government immediately deployed ambulances to rush the victims to hospital for urgent attention as several persons sustained various degrees of injuries.

 

The Chief of staff appreciated what Governor Soludo is doing in security of lives and property of Ndi Anambra as his first pillar of development, stating that government will not relent in making life easier for the citizens.

Afterwards, the Chief of Staff visited Eke Awgbu where he interacted with the traders.

 

Addressing them, Mr. Ezeajughi cautioned against trading on the road for their own safety noting that if the trailer had gotten to the market, it would have been more fatal.

 

He urged them to go back to their normal business as government will conduct investigation into the incident and will surely punish anyone culpable.

Narrating what happened at the accident scene, an eye witness who was on her way to Eke Awgbu called on government to investigate the issue of articulated vehicles that are not road worthy plying Anambra roads and also to caution drivers against over speeding as according to her it was over speeding that led to the loss of lives especially when the vehicle in question is not in good condition.
