The new president of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, in Aguata Local Government Area Chief Ken Okoli, has pledged to ensure that all the people-oriented programs and policies of Governor Chukwuma Soludo are implemented in all communities within the local government area.
Speaking after his election, Chief Okoli, who is currently serving his second term as the president General of Umuona Town union, promised to work closely with the leadership of ASATU at both national and state levels to make Aguata local government area a model of quality leadership and grassroots mobilization.
He thanked the Presidents General of various communities in Aguata Local Government Area for their support and promised to run an open-door administration, soliciting constructive ideas from them to entrench efficient and effective leadership in the area and described the people of Aguata Local Government Area as law-abiding citizens, urging Ndi Anambra to continue supporting Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whom he said is committed to improving the living standards of the people.
He disclosed that under his leadership as the president of Anambra State Association of Town Union in Aguata council Area, he would synergize with presidents General, traditional rulers of various communities and the transition committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, to bring even development and lasting peace and unity to the area.
Chief Okoli encouraged youths in Aguata to embrace the “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to become self-reliant and employers of labor, warning them against acts that could bring shame to their communities.
In his valedictory speech, the immediate past president of ASATU in Aguata local government area, Nze Henry Dim, thanked members for their support during his tenure and urged them to replicate the same to the new executive.
The new executives were later sworn in, with Professor Ferdinand Ezeiruaku, the president General of Nkpologwu community, administering the oath of office and allegiance, even as Igwe Moses Okpalanwaka, the traditional ruler of Nkpologwu, witnessed the ceremony.
