Nkiru Okoma Foundation has launched its inaugural competition for secondary schools in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in its effort to promote education and skills empowerment.

 

The competition, which was held at Obosi Town Hall, featured spelling bee, quiz, and skills’ hunt for junior and senior secondary schools in the community.

Among the schools that participated in the competition were Awada Secondary School, Union Secondary School, Maranatha and Unique Secondary School, Choice De Immaculate Secondary School, and All Saints Secondary School.

Addressing the students, the Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi said that the competition will encourage the students to learn more and also to foster a spirit of healthy competition in them as the competition falls in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, that every Anambra child would be equipped with at least one skill, even as she praised the performances of the students.

 

Speaking to the ABS, some of the school directors, Evangelist Leo Ewuzie, Mr. Chukwuma Ochokwu and one of the facilitators, Comrade Onyeka Uzowulu commended the foundation for providing the students with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity beyond the classroom.

They encouraged schools and students not to shy away from competitions, which they said would prepare them for the larger society and also inspire them to pursue excellence in their academics and life endeavors.

 

The convener, Reverend Ifeanyi Chukwuma appreciated schools and parents who honoured their invitation and congratulated the winners and participants in various categories.

For Spelling Bee, Junior Category, Maranatha Excellence and Unique School took first position, Awada Secondary School, second position while Lady Hannah Mission Secondary School came third.

 

For Quiz Competition, Awada Secondary School comes top, Lady Hannah Mission Secondary School, second position as All Saints Secondary School took third position.

 

For Talent Hunt, Junior Category, Union Secondary School took first position, Awada Secondary School second, while All Saints Secondary School came third.

For the Talent Hunt, Senior Category, Lady Hannah Mission Secondary School came first, Robertson Secondary School second and All Saints Secondary School third position respectively.
