Staff of Ekwusigo Local Government Secretariat, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Heads of Local Government Administration and Class of 1982 of the Old Boys Association of Christ the King College, Onitsha, have paid their last respect to Late Comrade George Obunse whose remains were laid to rest at his residence Nwosisi Lane, in Onitsha.
Late Mr. Obunse, who died at the age of fifty-nine, was until his death, the Head of Administration, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
He was also the elder brother of the Head of Camera Unit of ABS, Mr. Joseph Obunse.
At the funeral, friends and colleagues shared their grief and memories of Late Comrade Obunse.
They spoke of his dedication, humour, spiritual life, and positive impact on his workplace and beyond.
In separate interviews with the ABS, the Transition Committee Chairman, Ekwusigo Council Area, Mr. Chimezie Obi, the Chairman, Heads of Local Government Administration, Anambra State, Dr. Ifeyinwa Orie and the pioneer Class Captain, Class of 1982 CKC Onitsha, Mr. Bart Okeke, described the deceased as a man who always stood on the side of truth.
They said his presence will be greatly missed, but his impact on their lives and workplace will be remembered and cherished forever.
Consoling the family, the Director News and Current Affairs, ABS, Mrs. Judy Jeff-Nwabueze, prayed that God would comfort the children and the entire family.
On their parts, the younger brother Mr. Joseph Obunse, the first son, Mr. Obiora Obunse and the first daughter, Miss Adaeze Obunse, said the deceased was a peace loving man and selfless to a fault.
They prayed that God would grant his soul eternal rest, promising to continue on his good legacy.
