The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has assured to continue partnering with the federal government in prioritizing primary healthcare provision for Ndị Anambra.
Governor Soludo stated this when the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Mohammed Ali Pate paid a courtesy call on him at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Governor Soludo, who pointed out that his administration is already driving development in the health sector across the three hundred and twenty-six political wards in the State, stated that presently, his administration has recorded over sixty thousand beneficiaries of free antenatal and delivery services.
He also identified water, sanitation, waste management and nutrition as great priority for his government which also tied into what the federal government is doing, and expressed optimism that the State and the federal government will continue to join hands to foster partnership that will benefit the people.
Governor Soludo recalled that when he assumed office , seventy eight percent of Ndị Anambra used to assess healthcare through private institutions, adding that since he began to intervene, the percentage has continued to decrease.
Responding, the Minister Ali Pate commended Governor Soludo for the great work he is doing with his team in the State,, adding that the state health team has been working closely with ťhe federal government to meet the health needs of Ndị Anambra and called for more collaborative efforts to touch more lives.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, Special Adviser to the Governor on Medical and Pharmaceutical Matters, Godwin Nnadozie, the Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike, Founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Sir Emeka Offor, a former Deputy Governor of Enugu state, Dr. Okechukwu Itanyi and the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Ikenna Ofordeme, among others, were present at the event.
