Over three hundred persons have benefited from a sensitization training offered by Ojoto Community, Idemili South Local Government Area, on Basic life support skills.
The enlightenment programme organized by Ojoto Rising Star in collaboration with the Traditional Ruler of the Community, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, was held at St Odilias hall and James Okigbo memorial secondary school to champion advocacy on management of emergency Situations.
The exercise, which commenced with registration of children, cut across pupils and students of different ages, grouped in various classes, with members of the Nigerian Red Cross Society at hand to expose them to the golden rules of first aid in saving lives.
Addressing the children, the Traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Mbamalu explained that the advocacy training was targeted at re-orienting them on measures that will add value in rescuing emergencies, regretting the incessant cases of avoidable deaths in the society.
The Co-ordinator, Ojoto Rising Star, in his speech, highlighted on the successes recorded so far, saying that it has been supportive in alleviating the plight of the indigents in the areas of education.
A facilitator, Mrs Amaka Awogu, who noted that life is essential, commended the monarch for the new idea, and encouraged other communities to align with such lofty initiative.
Describing the training as the first of its kind, the Executive Secretary, Anambra state Chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Engineer Kingsley Okoye maintained that the community is striving to building manpower and adopting current developed country system of impacting knowledge of first aid towards saving lives and extolled the efforts of the community in advancing its frontiers in healthcare delivery.
Present at the training was a stakeholder in the community and former managing Director of ABS, Sir Amobi Adirika, alongside the president General of Ojoto community,
