Anambra State Government through the State Ministry of Health has partnered United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, in organizing a three-day review of 2023, first quarter Annual Operation Plan in the state.

 

The meeting held in Awka, attracted participants from the State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Health Insurance, Civil Society Organizations and Health Partners.

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner for Health; Dr. Afam Obidike said that the review meeting was to ensure that everyone aligns with common goals as well make the team members understand the ministry’s objectives and priorities, as it will ensure optimal allocation of resources, budget and address potential risks.

 

The Commissioner noted that they have reflected on the past performances which has helped them to set new ambitions and that they are determined to achieve more goals.

Dr. Obidike explained that the Annual Operation Plan meeting was a crucial event that holds significant importance in the ministry, and commended UNICEF for their continued support in the healthcare of the state, while assuring the public that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is committed to improving the healthcare system of the state.

 

The Permanent Secretary of Ministry, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo commended the participants for their contributions, urging them to put more efforts in discharging their duties, so as to improve the healthcare of the state.

Earlier, the Head of Planning Department, Research and Statistics, Anambra State Ministry of Health; Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu said that the meeting offered the state the opportunity to review 2023 Annual Operation Plan as well as articulate the activities that have been done in the first quarter of 2024, adding that the state government is grateful to UNICEF for their support.
