Sir Alex Arinze Ali has been installed as the ninth President of the Rotary Club of Awka-Smithtown for 2024 -2025 service year.

 

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that the installation ceremony held in Awka, the Anambra State capital, was attended by the Traditional ruler of Nawfija in Orumba South Local Government Area, Igwe Clifford Okeke, former member that represented Orumba North in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emeka Aforka, members of Knight of Saint John International, among other dignitaries.

The event featured induction of new members, launching of service projects, award presentation and inauguration of 2024-2025 Board of Directors.

 

In his valedictory remark, the Eighth President of Rotary Club of Awka-Smithtown, Mr Valentine Okaudu, who said that it was an honour serving the club with support of members, despite the challenging times, pledged support to his successor, Sir Alex, saying that with him, the club is in safe hands.

Speaking after taking oath of office and allegiance to mark his successful installation as the ninth President of Rotary Club of Awka-Smithtown for 2024- 2025 service year, Sir Alex promised to carry out projects that will impact humanity positively, especially in rural development.

 

He explained that ‘community assessment’ will help the club under him to identify communities with pressing needs they can address, counting on support of Rotarians and friends of Rotary in achieving the set goals.

Speaking on leadership qualities of the newly installed President, the Worthy President, Commandery seven-one-one Awkuzu, Saint Raphael Commandery, Knight of Saint John International, Sir Kenneth Okafor, said that Sir Alex has humility, commitment and all it takes to achieve set goals for the good of humanity, in line with objectives of Rotary Club.

Some awardees at the event, including Igwe Okeke of Nawfija, Prince Rowland Okam, from Enugwu-Agidi, and Mrs Ngozi Ezeja from Enugu-Ezike, Enugu State, promised to support the activities of the new President and said that they will continue to uplift humanity, reasons they were chosen for the honor.
