The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has held a data validation exercise for Officers-in-Charge (OIC) of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) in Awka.

Addressing the officers, the Managing Director of ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, urged the OIC’s to be consistent in their efforts to improve the conditions of their healthcare centers so as to encourage BHCPF patients to seek treatment from the facilities.

The ASHIA Managing Director also warned them against handling of secondary diseases or illnesses that require the expertise of specialists and secondary healthcare providers by themselves and advised them to always refer patients that need secondary health services to the nearest ASHIA accredited hospitals whenever such cases arise.

Dr. Onyemaechi equally warned them that any OIC found treating a secondary level patient would be severely dealt with even as the BHCPF team accessed and validated the data recorded in their facilities.
