Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development has expressed satisfaction with the rebuilding projects at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square and Commissioner’s Quarters in Awka.

 

The Chairman of the Committee and Member representing Nnewi South Constituency One, Honurable Nonso Atuchukwu, disclosed this during an oversight visit at the construction sites, being executed by the state government.

The committee members conducted a thorough inspection of the construction and renovation activities, and paid close attention to both the progress of the building structures and the quality of materials being used.

 

Speaking after the exercise , Honourable Atuchukwu stated that significant progress has been made at the construction sites.

He said that several buildings at the Commissioners’ Quarters have been completed with six others at the decking level and three at the foundation stage.

 

The lawmaker emphasized that the renovation of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square is expected to enhance social activities within the state.

Honourable Atuchukwu further highlighted that these projects when completed, will significantly contribute to the infrastructural development of Anambra State.

 

He mentioned the committee some observations made by the committee and urged the contractors to address these issues and ensure the timely completion of the projects.

Engineer Ugochukwu Enwelum, the contractor overseeing the renovation of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, assured that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

 

He also expressed gratitude to the state government for their trust and support in exec

uting the project.
