The second phase of the One Youth, Two Skills Solution has been flagged-off.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo flagged-off the initiative at the International Convention Centre, Awka.
Out of the one hundred and eighty-three thousand youths who applied for the programme, eight thousand, six hundred and twenty youths across various vocations who qualified, were selected to participate.
The Governor recalled that the maiden edition of the programme took place last year, where five thousand successfully trained youths were empowered with two billion naira grant for start-ups, noting that most of them are now employers of labour.
While commending Anambra youths for deciding to take their destinies in their own hands, instead of protesting and lamenting, Governor Soludo announced that those who were selected must pass through the stages which he called five systematic pillars of the initiative, including apprenticeship scheme, entrepreneurial skills, training, formation of cooperatives, business financing scheme and mentorship scheme.
Governor Soludo who stressed that the programme will benefit only the qualified applicants , called on the participants to make use of the opportunity to become solutions to themselves and the society, emphasized his administration’s determination to give good value and called for partners who are willing to partner government in engaging the youths.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba thanked the Governor for developing a model worthy of emulation that will live beyond him.
The Commissioner emphasized that quality training is being given to youths in line with his manifesto of raising one thousand youth millionaires annually and commended the trainees for going through the rigorous process.
The trainees hail the Governor for having vested interest in youth welfare.
The Governor was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo and the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right. Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, Secretary to the State Government, Professor. Solo Chukwulobelu, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barrister Joachin Anaeto, State Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, Traditional Rulers, Transition Committee Chairmen, among others, also attended the event.
