The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, says the coming of Christianity has brought light and series of transformation in various communities across the world.
Speaking at Saint Peter’s Parish, Akpo, in Aguata Local Government Area, during a church service to mark over a hundred years of the Church Missionary Society, CMS, coming to Akpo community, Bishop Ezeofor charged Christians to always work towards consolidating the achievements of the early missionaries who brought the gospel.
Right Reverend Ezeofor maintained that the coming of Christianity to Akpo signifies God’s visitation and commended all those who, in one way or another, contributed to the growth of the gospel in the community.
Bishop Ezeofor, during the centenary celebration, performed the foundation-laying ceremony for the centenary hall and dedicated the church vicarage for the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth.
Earlier, in a sermon, the Archdeacon of Amaiyi Archdeaconry, Venerable Christian Emeribe, emphasized the efficacy of prayer and charged Christians to always seek the power of God to deepen their Christian lives.
He called on the faithful to always live a Christ-like life in order to win more souls for Christ, warning them against acts capable of debasing Christianity.
In their various interviews, the Vicar of Saint Peter’s Parish, Akpo, Reverend Canon Henry Durunna, and a parishioner, Mr. Chidozie Dim, expressed satisfaction with the successful outcome of the event and maintained that the coming of Christianity has brought transformation and spiritual reawakening in Akpo community.
The service, which was attended by the President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, some Diocesan officials, and others, featured a series of prayers and the conferment of posthumous awards on some of those who contributed to the growth of evangelism in Akpo community during their lifetime.
