In a burning desire to positively shape the lives of youths and promote education in their community, Potential Star Garden Ezinifite, in Aguata Local Government Area in conjunction with National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Ezinifite Chapter has organized its 2024 Ezinifite Best Student Challenge and Youths Empowerment Programme.

 

During the event, students and pupils who are residents in the community both indigenes and non-indigenes were issued a written quiz to test their knowledge on English Language, Mathematics and Current Affairs.

They also competed on oral presentations for secondary schools and debate for primary schools.

 

At the end of the test, a student of Mother of Christ Secondary School, Ezinifite, Master Ifeanyi Ughadimma emerged the overall best in quiz went home with a prize money of fifty thousand naira while the best student in debate, also a student of Mother of Christ Secondary School Ezinifite, Master Pius Benedict went home with the sum of twenty thousand naira.

Other participants in the quiz, debate and oral presentation competition went home with different consolation cash prizes.

 

They also paid the school fees for eight pupils of Emmanuel Nursery and Primary School, Ezinifite and empowered three other youths of the community with the sum of twenty thousand naira to support their different businesses.

According to the Founder, Potential Star Garden, Ezinifite, Mr. Emmanuel Umenze, the event has been on for five years and aimed at polling resources together to promote education, equip young people with necessary skills and to help them tap their into their inner potential.

 

Mr. Umenze lauded the effort of their supporters Chief Cosmas Ilo, and Mrs. Obianuju Oranu among other numerous supporters who doled out resources to make the event a reality even as he pledged to sustain the programme.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike represented by the Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria in the Local Government Area, Mr. Mmaduabuchi Ezekafor noted the place of National Youth Council of Nigeria in driving Youths involvement in politics especially in engaging stakeholders to prioritize the welfare and empowerment of the youths in policies which is yielding positive results.

 

Speaking during the event, the Chairman Anambra South Traditional Rulers’ Council and the Traditional ruler of Ezinifite, Igwe Chukwuma Bob-Orji extolled the initiators of the programme, saying it is very important to equip and empower the youth for a better tomorrow.

On his part, the President General of Ezinifite Improvement Union, Chief Nwora Ekwilo while pledging total support to the welfare of the youth in the community, lauded the organizers of the event for their support education and skill acquisition, and called on affluent individuals in the community to support and help expand their programme.

 

Some of the sponsors of the event, Chief Ilo, and Mrs. Oranu represented by Mr. Chukwuebuka Anyika in their respective goodwill messages expressed satisfaction with the successful outcome of the event which aimed at correcting the mindset of those who see education as unimportant.

Responding on behalf of others , one of the beneficiaries, Master Ughadimma commended the organizers of the event for supporting their educational needs and prayed God to bless them immensely even as he promised to take his academics serious.

 

A life changing talk by Reverend Father Johnmark Okafor, debate, quiz, musical performance, comedy, presentation of cheques and certificate of attendees formed the highpoints of the event.
