Women have been described as special breed created by God to transform, mold and build a godly and righteous nation.

The Vicar, St Michael And All Angels Anglican Church, Abagana, Reverend Canon Shedrack Obidajuo stated this in a sermon during a thanksgiving service to mark the end of the Parish’s 2024 Women August Meeting with the theme,’I must eat the fruits of my labour’.

Women during the annual gathering of August Meeting are exposed to contemporary challenges facing families and tutored on ways to manage them while they also discuss other ways to bring development to their churches, communities and society at large.

They also assess their activities in the past year and introduce other ways of doing things to improve their lives and that of their families.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, Reverend Canon Obidajuo said as special creatures, women are the pillars of their families as they contribute majorly in child upbringing and asked them to redouble their efforts in molding their wards to take the right since according to him, the level of moral decadence in the society today is mostly caused by poor upbringing and parental foundation.

He asked them to continue believing in Christ and contributing to God’s work and to put into practice all they learnt during the meeting in order to see God’s work in action in their lives.

The President, Home And Abroad Meeting of the church, Mrs Florence Mmaduguluike said the importance of August Meeting cannot be over emphasized as they learn many things that will help reposition their lives, families and faith in Christ Jesus.

Mrs Mmaduguluike frowned at the high rate of seperation and divorce in today’s society, asking young couples to hold onto their first love, believe and trust in Christ who instituted marriage and stay together for their children.

On her part, the Vicar’s wife, Mrs Joy Obidajuo, commended the women for coming together to seek God’s face and ways to maintain and build Christian families, stating that in the face of difficulties and hardships in the nation, that God will surely show them mercy and will be by their sides.

Lending her voice, another member of the church, Mrs Chykoo Ugokwe said August meeting is for both old and young women, correcting the wrong perception that they go to the meeting to show off and spend flamboyantly but rather, that they use the occasion to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with each other.

Special prayers and thanksgiving featured at the service while unveiling and cutting of cake climaxed the service.
