A former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Obinna Emeneka has called on women to use their August meetings to initiate social reforms that will entrench a morally sound society.
Chief Emeneka who is the immediate past member that represented Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, while wishing women in the state fruitful deliberations noted that the yearly August meetings by women, especially those from the southeast region of the country, has become a strong socioeconomic development tool to enhance humanity.
The former law maker who is a pharmacist based in Awka, maintained that women use the meeting to deliberate on the issues affecting the society, such as hunger, poverty, illiteracy, ecumenical propagation, social vices, community development among others, urging them to sustain the tempo.
Chief Emeneka who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, called on women to channel more energy this year on the issues of moral decadence, get-rich quick syndrome and cultism, problems he said affect the society negatively at the moment.
According to the former lawmaker, all hands must be on deck to support the women as women irrespective of their various social classes tasked themselves to initiate societal reforms or put up infrastructural amenities such as water boreholes, construction of culverts in most cases, granting of scholarships, equipping of schools among numerous others.
He therefore commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for being innovatively responsive to the socioeconomic needs of Ndi Anambra, which he maintained has lessened the burdens of myriads of issues affecting the good people of Anambra State especially women.
