The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Anambra Chapter, has urged the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission , ANSIEC to review the September 28th local government election to enable political parties meet up with deadline for submission of candidates and campaigns.
The Chairman of IPAC in Anambra, Mr. Uche Ugwuoji, made the call at ANSIEC headquarters in Awka during IPAC meeting with Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
Speaking shortly after the meeting, Mr. Ugwuoji who thanked the commission for a fruitful engagement with the council as all underlining issues by the association was taken into consideration with a view for positive results and expressed optimism that the association will participate actively during the election which according to him should be done with the provision of the law.
For the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, the party is ready to participate in the upcoming election and urged other political parties to follow suit for proper democratic election and commended the commission for their uprightness in engaging all major stakeholders for a comprehensive and robust election.
Responding to the issues raised by the IPAC, the Chairman of the Commission, Mrs Genevieve Osakwe, thanked the association for their contribution and noted that the commission will take the issues raised into critical consideration in ensuring that the election is conducted within the ambit of the law and assured them that the commission places the priority of Ndi Anambra high in achieving a fair, credible and transparent election.
According to Mrs Osakwe, the essence of the engagement is to have face to face interactions and highlight any issues or difficulties faced by IPAC all geared towards carrying all stakeholders along for a smooth election.
