A life well spent was celebrated over the weekend as family members, friends and well-wishers gathered at Umubele Awka to pay their last respect to the late Chief Osita Nwora.

The late Chief Nwora who died at one hundred and three years old, was the father of the immediate past Secretary of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Anambra state chapter, Comrade Uche Nwora-Nwike.

His burial rites began with a burial service at Saint Stephens Anglican Church, Eziafor, Augulu Awka, in Akwa South Local Government Area.

In a sermon, the Parish Vicar of the Church, Reverend Canon Samuel Okeke who underscored the importance of living with God and fellow humans, said that the deceased was a devoted Christian, one who worked hard in his youthful years to attain to several heights in civil service, as he said that the late pa Nwora had a diploma in public administration and many other degrees, and retired as a police officer.

Reverend Canon Okeke urged his children to immortalize their father to sustain his legacies, especially as he was a father to all his children and the children of his siblings since as the eleventh child of his parents, who survived as ten others died, living behind the whole family for him to cater for.

After the service, the late pa Nwora was interred at his compound in Umubele Awka.

Speaking to the ABS, a son of the deceased, Engineer Kenneth Nwora and his first daughter, Mrs Joy, described their father as a hardworking man that loved everyone equally, recalling how he used his two luxury buses to convey Ndi Awka from Kano free of cost during the crisis back in the days, promising to ensure that their family is united just like their father left it.

Another of his sons, Mr Chukwujekwu Nwora said that he will miss his father’s advice, love and easy-going life, saying that he has left a big vacuum in the family.

For Comrade Uche Nwora-Nwike, the care and attention their father gave her and her siblings will forever remain alive in their minds, even as she said that she will always remember his love for education which made him encourage all his children to be educated.

Some of his grandchildren, Miss Adaobi Nwike, Miss Chideraa Nwora and master Chizaram Uche-Iloanya regretted that they will no longer play with him and listen to his funny stories, praying God to grant him eternal repose.
