The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Immigration service says it is fully involved in the State security operations.

 

The New comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration service in the State, Mr Godwin Nzeribe who disclosed this when he led some top management of the service in Anambra to a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Awka Community, Obi Gibson Nwosu maintained that the command is actively involved in the State’s joint task force alongside other security agencies for enhanced security of life and property.

According to Mr Nzeribe, Anambra State command of the service is carrying out surveillance and patrol operations within and around Awka metropolis on a regular basis to enhance the living standards.

 

The comptroller of Immigration Service who thanked the traditional ruler of Awka for the warm reception accorded them, disclosed that besides the regular facilities, Nigeria Immigration service render to the citizenry, standard travel passports, ECOWAS travel certificates, control and monitoring of foreigners in the State, Company inspection,Visa administration, campaign against child labour and smuggling of Migrants among others and called for collaboration with the people to achieve their aim.

In a remark, the administrative Secretary of Awka Development Union ADUN Nigeria, Chief Alexander Nwachukwu and a member of the prestigious Ozo Awka society, Chief Michael Onwuaso called for concerted efforts in the fight against insecurity in Awka for robust development of the State and commended the comptroller of Immigration for his good work so far.

 

Responding, the traditional ruler of Awka Obi Nwosu who spoke through his Special Adviser on intergovernmental affairs, Business and Political Matters, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe while describing the people of Awka as very hospitable, called on those occupying various positions to always aspire to leave indelible legacies while in office.

 

He reassured the new Comptroller of Immigration in Anambra of the cooperation and support of the people of Awka to ensure the success of his tenure and that the community will continue to provide an enabling environment for the speedy transformation of the area and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his developmental strides in the State, especially Awka the state capital, calling for its sustainability.

All the village Heads and King Makers in Awka community, including the Immediate Past Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Mr Abuchi Nwozor were all in attendance during the visit.
