The thirteenth edition of Nnokwa Youth Forum was held over the weekend in Lagos state.

 

Correspondent Justice Onyemaobi of the ABS Lagos Bureau reports that the program which took place at Nnokwa Civic Center Ejigbo, had in attendance children, women of Nnokwa and other prominent members of the town residing in Lagos.

 

The annual program organized by the Education Committee of Nnokwa Progress Union, Lagos branch offers the pupils and students of Nnokwa Community the opportunity to be trained as entrepreneurs and equipped with the skills to make them viable, marketable and employable and has its theme as “Harnessing the Power of Information Technology in Wealth Creation”.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Prince Nnamdi Ezekwem, called on the pupils and Students of Nnokwa to always make themselves available in such events so as to acquire skills that information technology provides, saying that such exposition would help them to excel academically as well as promote their parents’ businesses.

 

In his address, the chairman of Nnokwa Progress Union Lagos Branch, Nze Clement Ezegbunam, pointed out that the opportunities information technology provides is enormous, stressing that if properly harnessed it could be a powerful tool in transforming ideas

Also in an address, the Chairman of the Education Committee, Nnokwa Progress Union, Engr Nnaemeka Nwamara appreciated all that contributed to the success of the program and promised that the Committee would assist any student that will develop career in technology industry to any level he or she wants to attain in life.

 

In their separate paper presentations, Dr Jane Azuka, Messrs Emzor Ezeabasilim, Chizoba Ikenwa and Stanley Odinaka narrated their experiences at the development stages of digital skills acquisition and encouraged the youths to choose a digital career for themselves and work towards developing it.

Free medical mission where both adults and children received attention to their health needs was done during the programme, while group discussions and presentations, as well as dancing competition among children, featured at the event.

 

Awards presentations to all the resource persons in recognition of their selfless efforts in impacting knowledge on the children climaxed the event.
