Anambra state government says it will soon start strict inspection of buildings in all Estates in the state to ensure conformity with international standards.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Pauly Onyeka made this known during the inaugural conference of the Anambra state chapter of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria.

The inaugural conference and reports that the event was attended by members of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria from across the country, the Chairman Anambra state House Committee on Lands, Honourable Jude Akpua, past and present executive members of REDAN, developers among others.

Addressing the gathering, Honourable Onyeka said that he was happy that REDAN has now come to Anambra and announced that the state is on course to launch globally acceptable real estate that would give investors satisfaction for their money and that the state has series of bills and that one has been passed, all to ensure that everything about real estate and housing are done expertly and in the best standards.

He said that one of the bills will prohibit people from taking water outside their compounds as part of the efforts geared towards controlling erosion menace in the state, and that it provides for every compound in the state to have catchment pit to collect all the water in their compound and advised members of REDAN to come together and forge a common front towards achieving one goal, instead of going to commercial banks for loans individually.

Earlier in a keynote speech, a former National President of REDAN, Dr Ugo Chime, who said that REDAN was established in 2002/2003, gave an insight into what real estate business is all about, how to invest in the business and what to do to make maximum gain in the business.

Dr Chime called on the estate developers in the state to utilize the opportunity provided by the federal government through mortgage banks to give investors loans with an interest rate of six percent that would span twelve years, instead of assessing loans from commercial banks that give higher interest percentage and have less numbers of years to offset.

In an address, the Anambra State Chairman of REDAN, Dr Sunny Nwachukwu, while appreciating his predecessors for working hard to ensure that the association booms in the state, called on all developers to join the association to reap the benefits thereof, and said that they are happy with Governor Chukwuma Soludo in what he is doing in the state, promising to partner with his government to ensure that houses are provided to Ndi Anambra at an affordable price.

In a vote of thanks, the Past Chairman of the association, Chief Law Nkwonta, appreciated all who came to be part of the event and thanked the Anambra state government, especially the Commissioner for Housing for his advice and support.
