Stakeholders have called for more accountability and transparency in the management of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, of the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP.
The event was attended by stakeholders from various sectors both public and private, people living with disability among numerous other stakeholders.
The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative co-funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
As a talent incubator, the programme seeks to improve the employability of fresh graduates by connecting them to practical on-the-job skills through a twelve-month paid-placement opportunity in both private and public sector institutions across the country.
The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme is designed as a scalable model for facilitating a transformative and impactful transition of fresh graduates from learning to earning.
Speaking during the programme, Mr. Chinedu Nwokolo who is an Impact Learning Analyst from the United Nations Development Programme said that the programme is one of the best initiatives of the federal government as it will address youth unemployment, economic development, capacity building as well as talent retention.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake said that the State Government will always support the programme for fresh graduates in the state to maximally benefit from the programme.
Mrs. Ngozi Ossy-Agbata who is the Programme Manager, United Nations Development Programme – Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem, Mr. Emmanuel Atuanya from the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service Sir. Chido Obidiegwu, represented by the Director of Programmes in the establishment, Mrs. Nneka Ekwunife among others attended the training.
