Awka Community has described the elevation of one of her illustrious sons Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police by the Police service commission as well deserved.

 

In a statement by the Directorate of Press relations of Awka traditional institution, the traditional Ruler of Awka Obi Gibson Nwosu who spoke on behalf of the Community, thanked the Inspector General of Police for finding Mr. Onwuemelie formerly Commissioner of Police suitable for the promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

 

According to Obi Nwosu, the New Assistant Inspector General of Police is an upright personality who always believes in decency, decorum and transparency and expressed optimism that he will bring his wealth of experience in the police force to bear in his new position.

 

The traditional ruler while commending the Nigeria police and other law enforcement agencies for all their contributions towards the protection of lives and property called for public support to enable them to deliver on their various statutory responsibilities.

 

The Awka Community through their traditional Ruler said that Mr. Onwuemelie, the New AIG is among those that have continued to contribute to the development of the Community, and described him as a worthy ambassador of Awka Community in the Nigeria police and prayed for God’s wisdom and understanding as he continues to excel in his job.

 

Obi Nwosu used the opportunity to call on the people of the community especially the youths to continue to be law abiding, warning them against acts that will negate the wind of development across the community as the capital of the State.

 

He charged the people of Awka occupying various positions across Nigeria and beyond to use such in impacting positively on others.

 

The New Assistant Inspector General of Police Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie hails from Umuenechi village Awka, in Awka South local government area of Anambra State.
