Launching of beams on Ezee River Bridge Project Akwa Ozubulu along the Ozubulu – Atani road has been completed.

 

The road which is eleven point three kilometers has one bridge at Ezee River, Akwa Ozubulu where work is currently progressing.

Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri reports that the eleven point three kilometer Ozubulu-Atani road started from Ozubulu end of Onitsha Owerri road, beside the Ekwusigo Local Government Area, to Atani junction in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

 

On arrival, ABS observed that the retaining walls of the bridge have been cast which allowed for the launching of the beams which are fourteen in number.

Speak to the ABS , the Managing Director, TAMAD construction company, the firm handling the project, Engineer Tony Madi said the bridge has two spams, and that they will cast the deck after the launching of the beams, which according to him will take them two or three weeks and another two weeks to dry .

 

Engineer Madi explained that it will take them till the end of this month to make the bridge motorable when they will commence laying of asphalt on the road.

He lamented that constant rainfall has delayed the job especially at Atani end of the road due to the terrain of the area.

 

Speaking on the development, a resident of Akwa Ozubulu, Mrs Uzoma Nwofor and a resident of Atani, Mr Izukanne Chinyeaka who expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for responding to their yearnings as according to them, the road will help them to evacuate their farm produce and also allow people from different walks of life to access their markets.
