Governor Chukwuma Soludo since inception of his administration has initiated policies and programmes with short and long term benefits for the people both individually and collectively.

 

The Governor’s blueprint towards enthroning good governance was anchored on visionary, creative and sound intellectual template that will etch his name in the Hall of Fame. Governance in developed economies accord welfare of the people top priority in government’s policies, programmes and projects. Governor Soludo recognized the importance of basic necessities of life and comprehensive development including health, sanitation and education.

 

Presently, Soludo administration has changed the face and status of Okpoko Community hitherto known as urban slums and ghetto to sprawling Urban city with quality road infrastructure and modern social amenities.

 

To demonstrate his commitment to human capital development, Governor Soludo has employed thousands of workers in the health sectors. It has equally reduced infant and maternal mortality by making delivery of babies free of charge, while the revamping of Primary HealthCare Centres in all the communities has raised the living standard of expectant and nursing mothers as well as prevented child and maternal mortality.  The administration has equally employed thousands of teachers to replace retired ones to end the era of schools without teachers and sustain excellent performance of Anambra State students in education.

 

To ensure eradication of hunger and food insecurity through strategic policy and planning, the administration initiated regenerative agriculture which is the modern way to increase yields in food crops, vegetables, fruits and economic trees including palm oil and coconut trees.

 

The government has also distributed seedlings of the economic trees to communities across the state as part of measures to empower families and households with sustainable sources of income. Governor Soludo’s plan was geared towards reinventing the agricultural programme of the first premier of Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpala. During the period, the Eastern Region leveraged on

 

 

 

agriculture especially food crops and economic trees like oil palm which gave it a comparative advantage over other regions which also had their respective agricultural resources that generally contributed to the leap in the country’s GDP. Similarly, the recent launching of “Farm to feed campaign” is geared towards drawing the attention of Ndi Anambra towards cultivating every available space within their environment to tackle food crises, reduce hunger and hardship.

 

The Soludo administration also introduced One Youth, Two Skills Entrepreneurship Programme which modified and restored the Igbo apprenticeship model of decentralizing wealth called “Igba boi”; whereby children with or without resources or requisite education were engaged by established business owners and skilled artisans who later empower them to become self-reliant.

 

The Governor Soludo administration is leveraging on Public -Private sector -Community Partnership initiative to accelerate development in various communities through collaboration in provision of social amenities. The mantra of “clean, green and habitable environment is yielding the desired goals of promoting healthy environment while synergy between the repositioned Vigilante services and other security agencies in the state is tackling the challenge of insecurity.

 

Again, the State burial law has reduced excesses during burial ceremonies and saved many families from unnecessary financial burden.

 

The Governor has equally reduced the cost of governance by streamlining government activities which has enabled him to do more with less resources. With these landmark achievements, Governor Soludo has redefined governance and provided a template for future administrations.
