Properties worth millions of naira destroyed and a life lost as flood submerged houses, factory and farmland at Ugwu Mkpume layout Achalla Agu Nkpor, in Idemili North Council area.
When ABS arrived at the layout, flood had covered the whole environment both the factories and farmland, and the crew also observed that some families have not come out of their building, especially those that live on the first and second floor due to the level of the flood that covered the compound.
Speaking to the ABS, The Vice President, Ugwu Mkpume Achalla Agu Landlord’s Association, Mr. Ifeanyi Oghota described the incident as unfortunate, lamenting that the good intentions of the state government that was meant to bring them joy and happiness has turned to sorrow due to the wrong channeling of flood by the construction Company that handled the Road project at Inland doors Nkpor- Umuoji Road.
Also speaking, Dr Alex Okonkwo, Mr. Peter Nwakudo and Mrs. Rose Enemchukwu.said that they have not witnessed the type of flood in the area in the past twenty-five years and regretted the loss of a mother and emergency condition of her three children who were rushed to the hospital.
They appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to come to their aid as floods from Ogidi, Umunachi, Eke Nkpor and Obosi are now channeled to the layout.
