Nawfia Progressive Union in Njikoka Local Government Area says no indigene of the community was involved in the ugly incident that occurred in Agu Anaocha Axis of Ifite Nawfia in which some men lost their lives while several others sustained gun-shot injuries.

The President-General of Nawfia Progressive Union, Chief Daniel Okoye disclosed this while speaking to journalists in Awka.

The town union stated that their investigation so far does not suggest the involvement of any indigenes of Nawfia in the violent episode and that anyone who has a contrary information should make it available to security and law enforcement agencies and Anambra State Government for necessary action.

They attributed the ugly incident to the handiwork of land speculators who are engaged in rivalry and supremacy battle in the area and their activities have been earlier documented and brought to the attention of Anambra State Government.

The Nawfia Town Union Executive commiserated with the families of all those who lost their lives and wish those in hospital a quick recovery.

They also called on the law enforcement agencies to swing into action and arrest the perpetrators of the ugly incident and their sponsors to serve as a deterrent to other criminally minded persons in the future.

The town union executive also condemned the assertion of a personality from Enugwu-Ukwu who made hasty insinuations that the perpetrators of the violence were of Nawfia origin.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Nawfia, Igwe Daniel Obelle revealed that the people of Nawfia abhors the spilling of human blood and see such acts as an abomination of the highest order.
