The plan to evict illegal occupants and restore the original master plan of Trans-Nkisi Layout, Onitsha is underway.
The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo made the disclosure when he embarked on a visit to commission a recreational center within the layout.
Governor Soludo noted that people have bastardized the location and said that all public lands are currently being recovered, asking the residents to join hands with his government to modernize the layout.
The Governor who explained that his government is finalizing the acquisition of land for the Onitsha two point zero, said that the Awka two point zero is already in the offing, stressing that it is part of a grand plan to build for the next generation of ndị Anambra.
He added that because of resource-based constraint, the Public-Private-Community-Partnership is a veritable model of development to which patriotic and rich ndị Anambra are gladly answering the call, expressing the readiness of his administration to partner with residents of the layout to do a pilot phase of road construction for them.
The Governor pointed out that because Onitsha is the commercial capital of the SouthEast region, his administration is deliberately embarking on transforming the city, noting that though he started from Okpoko, Akpaka, 3-3 and GRA are so critical to the greater Onitsha master plan, calling on all to fulfill their civic responsibility, especially through the payment of tax.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Landlord Allottees of Trans Nkisi Layout who spoke through the Secretary, Nchekwube Okeke, said that Professor Soludo is the only Governor to visit the area since its creation in 1980 and appreciated the governor for his uncommon wisdom in piloting the affairs of the state, especially the ongoing projects within the layout which will open up the place to the outside world.
He urged the Governor to intervene in the issue of land grabbers that have become a menace to them.
The newly commissioned recreational center has a gym, table and lawn tennis courts, fitness arena among others.
