It was a moment of sober reflection at Saint Mary’s Parish Nimo as the Late Sir Micheal Mgbajiaka began his journey to eternity with a pontifical high mass presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Minna Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Luka Sylvester Gopep
The Late Sir Micheal who was a Knight of Saint John International was described as a man filled with humility who derived joy in works of charity, always prayerful and dedicated to his faith.
Until his death, Sir Michael was the husband to the Supreme Subordinate President, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knight of Saint John International, Nigeria, Lady Dr Chinwe Mgbajiaka and died at the age of seventy.
Bishop Gopep was assisted by a litany of priests and the mass was also attended by Reverend Sisters and members of Knight of Saint John International who converged from different parts of the country on Nimo, Njikoka Council Area to pay their last respects to their worthy brother.
In a homily during the burial mass, Reverend Father Francis Anene said that when the church gathers to celebrate mass for the dead, it is a time to remind the faithful that they were baptized to run a race in Christ, proclaim and bear witness for him and to give account of their stewardship on the last day.
Reverend Father Anene said that the deceased ran his race without compromise and comforted his family and loved ones in the legacies and remarkable virtues he left behind.
Speaking shortly after the mass, the Supreme Subordinate President, Knight of Saint John International, Nigeria, Professor Remy Uche disclosed that he was under obligation to attend the burial because Late Sir Michael led a practical Christian life filled with humility, dedication and service to God and humanity which made him to attain the highest degree in the knighthood.
Commiserating with the Mgbajiaka family, the Member representing Njikoka Two at the State House of Assembly, Dr Jude Akpua added that the deceased was renowned for his philanthropy, truthfulness and community service.
A younger brother to the deceased, Sir Patrick Mgbajiaka who lamented the loss of his brother, said that he will be remembered for impacting many lives.
On his part, the first son of the deceased, Mr Chukwudi Mgbajiaka noted that their father gave them the best he could and helped them to attain enviable heights, promising to continue to toe the parts of righteousness, truthfulness and prayerful life that he lived.
Correspondent Amaka Onwuzulike reports that decoration of the first son of the deceased with the knighthood regalia of his father, interment, condolences and other side attractions climaxed the ceremony.
