NECO Releases 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination

The National Examinations Council has released the results of the June/July 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination, with sixty-point fifty-five per cent of candidates securing five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, made this known while briefing journalists at the NECO headquarters yesterday in Minna, Niger State.

Professor Wushishi disclosed that a total of one million, three hundred and seventy-six thousand, four hundred and twenty-three candidates, comprising seven hundred and six thousand, nine hundred and fifty males and six hundred and sixty-nine thousand, four hundred and seventy-three females, registered for the exam.

The NECO boss further explained that the number of the candidates that sat for the exam is one million, three hundred and sixty-seven thousand, seven hundred and thirty-six comprising seven hundred and two thousand, one hundred and twelve males and six hundred and sixty-five thousand, six hundred and twenty-four females.

The number of candidates with five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, is eight hundred and twenty-eight thousand, two hundred and eighty-four representing sixty-point five-five percent while the number of candidates with five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics, is one million, one hundred and forty-seven thousand, five hundred and ninety-seven representing eighty-three-point nine-zero percent.

Regarding examination malpractice, Wushishi noted that this year’s figures showed a significant reduction compared to last year and however revealed that forty schools were found to be involved in mass cheating during the examination.
