Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji has flagged off four months training of one thousand youths and elders alike in film production.
The programme held at Anambra film village in Awka aims to equip young people to be self-employed through the creative industry.
Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that addressing the students, Comrade Onyenji explained that the initiative was designed to meet Governor Soludo’s vision of creating a robust economy for Ndi Anambra in creative sector so that the foundation for a film industry hub will be solidified in the state and also boost the Anawood government has created in Anambra, which is an umbrella for Ndi Anambra who are in the film industry.
On her part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Film Village, Chinyere Ozo Okomma, revealed that Anambra State Government is determined to use the creative industry to tell stories about Ndi Anambra and Igbos and help those in film production to use it to earn a living and become employers of labour.
One of those participating in the training, Mr Eke Obiora, described it as a welcome development, saying that is an opportunity for him to learn something that will help him to achieve his potential and excel in the entertainment and creative world.
