Anambra State contingent to the eight edition of the National Youth Games, NYG, has finished eight on the Medals’ Table with a total of twenty six medals.

Team Anambra at the games matched their previous record of seven Gold, six Silver and twelve bronze medals and set a new record at the games with nine Gold, nine Silver and eight bronze medals.

Reacting after the games, The Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Patrick Onyedum, thanked God for the success story recorded at the games with the new record by the state contingent.

Mr Onyedum commended the athletes and team officials for their efforts, dedication and perseverance in achieving the feat which he described as remarkable while promising that the state will work on bettering their performance in the next outing as well as working on the male athletes as majority of the medals were won by the female athletes.

He commended Governor Soludo for his immense support to sports development in the state with approvals of the programs of the ASSDC and nod to feature at Inter State Sporting Activities and Competitions.

Team Anambra who was at the games with one hundred and twenty-four athletes and forty-seven officials featured in eighteen sporting events.
