As the international community observes Peace Day today September twenty-first 2024, the immediate past District Governor of Rotary International in District 9142, Mr. Akan Emah has called forthe inclusion of conflict resolution and peace building in the school curriculum to enable the students and pupils know the important role peace plays in the development of the society.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Mr. Emah who described peace as prerequisite for socio economic development of the society, called on Leaders at different levels to establish peace building committee in their various Communities to ensure peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst the people.
The immediate past District Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Mr. Emah, commended the United Nations General Assembly for setting the day, and called on Nigerians to always see themselves as one irrespective of Creed, religion or party inclinations.
For a One-time Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Sir Dennis Ekemezie, peace is very vital for human existence.
According to Sir Dennis, it is due to importance Rotary attaches to peace that it inaugurated a peace building and conflict resolution which he said needed public support to achieve the desired aim.
