Anambra state Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor has promised better days for the staff and management of Anambra Broadcasting Service.

Dr. Mefor stated this at the station’s headquarter in Awka during his familiarization tour of the establishment.

Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that the Commissioner visited the establishment in company of the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Barrister Ndirika Onyekwelu and other key staff members.

On arrival, Dr Mefor held a meeting with the Management of ABS led by the Managing Director; Mr. Christopher Molokwu.


In his remark, Dr. Mefor explained that Anambra State with an estimated population of ten million people, has a diverse audience to be served with prompt information, especially with the efforts of the state government in providing infrastructure for a livable homeland for Ndi Anambra and residents.

He noted that a paradigm shift is needed for things to be done better through leveraging on the digital space, focusing on telling the Anambra State story and ensuring that Ndi Anambra are adequately informed using resources and strength of the media station.

The Managing Director, Mr. Molokwu while welcoming the Commissioner explained that ABS will be repositioned to serve the Anambra audience effectively with news, programmes and content telling the Anambra State story to the diverse audience with necessary tools put in place.


He also said that the digital space is where ABS is directing its efforts so that people will get acquainted with the programmes, policies and achievements of the state government.

The Director of Legal Services Barrister Juliet Amasiatu, Director of Commercial Department, Lady Uju Ifediba, Director of News and Current Affairs, Mrs. Juddy-Jeff Nwabueze, Director of Administrations, Lady Tina Ekenta among others were present during the meeting.
