The Nigerian government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps, NYSC members.
With effect from July 2024, corps members will receive seventy-seven thousand naira up from thirty-three thousand naira according to a statement on the NYSC page signed by its Acting Director Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu.
A letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission and signed by the Chairman, Ekpo Nta, noted that the increment aligns with the National Minimum Wage Amendment Act 2024.
The statement revealed that the increment followed an advocacy visit by NYSC Director General Yusha’u Ahmed to the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission.
