A former minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Josephine Anenih, has advocated proper care for the aged in the society.

Mrs Anenih who is also the Co chairman, National Senior Citizens Stakeholders Consultative Forum, Anambra state chapter, was speaking when she paid a visit to the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Chris Molokwu, at his office at the station’s corporate headquarters, Awka.


Correspondent Ngozi Obileri, reports that briefing the ABS Managing Director and members of his management team, Mrs Anenih who adjudged ABS as one of the best in this part of the world said that she came to inform the Managing Director on their upcoming International Day for the Older Persons which holds on First October of every year, but was shifted to fifth October because it consided with Nigeria independence celebration and also to seek partnership with the ABS to give the event proper publicity and coverage, calling for support to anything that would promote healthy aging for the aged in the society.


Responding, the ABS, Managing Director acknowledged that promoting healthy aging is vital to keep the aged happy and alive in order to tap from their wealth of knowledge, but regretted that old people are often dumped in old people’s homes without love and care.
